Early Life and Political Career

Siddaramaiah, a prominent Indian politician, was born on August 3, 1948, in Siddaramanahundi, Karnataka. He hails from a humble agricultural family and began his political journey as a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) in the 1970s.

Siddaramaiah rose through the ranks within the INC, serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for several terms. In 2004, he was elected as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, a position he held until 2006. During his tenure, he implemented various development initiatives, including the Bhagya Lakshmi scheme for pregnant women and the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation for low-income families.

Formation of the Janata Dal (Secular)

In 2006, Siddaramaiah left the INC and joined the Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS), a regional political party in Karnataka. He served as the JDS state president and played a key role in the party's growth and electoral success.

In 2013, the JDS formed an alliance with the INC and succeeded in defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state assembly elections. Siddaramaiah was once again sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka.

Second Term as Chief Minister

During his second term, Siddaramaiah implemented several ambitious programs, such as the Anna Bhagya scheme to provide subsidized rice to the poor and the Amma Vodi scheme to support pregnant women and children.

He also focused on infrastructure development, launching the Bengaluru Metro Rail project and constructing new roads and bridges across the state.

In 2017, he was accused of corruption in the allotment of land to private companies during his tenure as Chief Minister.
